While it can be surprisingly easy to not only find great RVs but really low prices at repo RV auctions, it does not mean that there is nothing to it. It is not difficult to master the auction process, but you do need to spend the time to gain the knowledge you need to bid wisely. Learn as much as you can about inspecting RVs before you go to the preview period. That will be your one opportunity to really check out each one, look for any repairs it needs and find major problems that mean you should pass on it. Read books and articles to learn warning signs and how to quickly spot potential issues. It’s a good idea to ask a RV mechanic for tips too. It is important not get intimidated.
The live bidding used at most bank repo RV auctions pits bidders against each other as they outbid one another time and time again. Add that to the fast pace and the fact that many other bidders make their living buying at auctions, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed and intimidated. Don’t let that get to you. Instead, go to an auction just to get the feel of it and learn as much as you can. Once you’ve attending a few and bought your first RV this way, you’ll feel like a pro too.
Once you are the highest bidder, you will need to be able to complete your purchase. Most auctions require at least a deposit right away. Any remaining money will be due soon, usually up to 72 hours after the auction ends. Most auctions will only accept payment in certain forms. You do not want to win a great RV only to find yourself unable to meet the requirements for purchasing it. Get all the auction policies and procedures well in advance so you will be ready before you go.
