Scissor lifts are a type of work platform that are limited usually to only vertical movement. This lift is composed of several folding supports which are joined together in a criss-crossed ‘X’ pattern. These particular lifts can be used around automobile mechanics, construction sites, custodial environments and several other commercial work environments.
In order for this mechanism to move upward, you must increase the pressure to the outside of the lowest set of supports, in return this pressure will elongate the crossing pattern and propel the platform upwards. Due to strictly vertical movement, the bridge may move horizontally as well allowing you get even closer to your work area. Contraction of the lift is achieved when the pneumatic or hydraulic pressure is simply reduced, of course all of this is simply done with the push of a button.
Scissor lifts can be found in several sizes and have many different variations of use. For example, you can buy a small personal lift to put in your trunk in case you get a flat tire. These smaller versions can cost anywhere to as low as $35.00! If you work on cars or you simply need one for you shop, you can purchase a much larger lift for as low as $1,300.00! And lastly there is a commercial version which is usually on wheels for easy transportation, this version can cost you anywhere from $1,300.00 and up. These can be used around schools, construction sites, churches, and even super stores.
You can benefit several ways if you purchase a scissor lift over any other conventional lift. First the cost is hard to beat, many other lifts are constructed with costly steel and can be well over $2,000.00. Also, it is very light and transportable unlike your usual cherry pickers. If you are looking for a long lasting, durable and cheap lift then a scissor lift might just be the one for you.
