The Most Essential Features in a Coffee Pod Maker

The coffee pod phenomenon has officially touched down and made a big change in how we have traditionally viewed the brewing of coffee.  No longer must we rely on the 10 or 20 minute process required to made a whole pot of coffee that may or may not be completely consumed before being tossed down the drain the next morning.  Single-serving coffee is here to stay, and here are a few features that you’ll want to to consider when you’re shopping for a new coffee pod maker:

Advanced Interface

Any company claiming to make the best coffee pod maker on the market should feature an interface that lets you get as specific as you want to about how your single-serving coffee should taste.  Some of these units even feature touch screens, allowing the user to dial in the ideal settings with great precision.  The specific features that you can find on these touch screens are too numerous to list here, but suffice it to say that these screens are truly ideal for any environment, from the home to a large office where speed and convenience are the name of the game.

Sturdy Construction

When I’m considering purchasing anything that has moving parts, I tend to spend more on better construction rather than fancy bells and whistles.  These two things are not at all mutually exclusive, but be sure that you aren’t sacrificing on build quality once you find a unit with the features you are looking for.  Ideally, you’ll find a happy medium between the two extremes.

“K-Cup” Compatibility

By far the most popular type of coffee pod on the market today is Keurig’s “K-Cup” system.  This format has been adopted by a great many brewer manufacturers as well as the companies making the coffee, itself.  Choosing a brewer that uses K-Cups will ensure that you have access to the greatest variety of options in terms of roasts and flavors!
