Healthy Vegetable Juicing Recipes

When it come to making fresh home made juicing recipes, vegetables juicing recipes have a distinct advantage over fruit juice recipes – they are a lot lower in sugar content. Fruit juice recipes are still very nutritious and health promoting but it is better to make the majority of your juices from vegetables to cut down on sugar. Here are some great healthy vegetable juicing recipes that you can make at home with some information about their health benefits.

Vegetable Juicing Recipe #1 – Carrot Zinger
8 Large carrots
2″ slice of fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon of lemon juice

This tasty and slightly hot juicing recipe has several key health benefits. Ginger is great because it contains antioxidants called gingerols that research has shown to help reduce inflammation and pain. In particular, ginger is effective at helping to reduce inflammation and pain associated with the joints.

Carrots are one of the best food sources on earth for their rich concentration of a group of antioxidants called carotenes. One study conducted with the elderly in Massachusetts found that those who ate carotene rich foods every day (in this case the food sources were carrots and squash) were 50% less likely to die of a heart attack than those who ate less than one portion per day. Researchers believe that the potent antioxidant effects of carotenes protect our arteries from oxidative damage that can lead to atherosclerosis – a condition that is a high risk factor for heart disease.

Vegetable Juicing Recipe #2 – Classy Crucifers
2 cups of broccoli heads
1 cup of red cabbage
2 apples

Adding apples to vegetable juicing recipes, especially the less tasty ones, is a great way to make them sweeter and more palatable.

Broccoli and cabbage are members of plant family known as cruciferous vegetables or crucifers. Crucifers are unique because they contain antioxidants that you don’t see in other vegetables called indoles and sulforaphane. These two antioxidants have a powerful effect for detoxification of our cells because they stimulate the liver to greatly enhance its production of detoxification enzymes. Drinking this juice in the morning on empty stomach about 30 minutes before breakfast is the best way to take advantage of its detoxification benefits. Then the liver is free for detoxification as it is not needed for aiding in the digestion of solid meals.
