Hair Restoration For Men

Medical hair restoration, also called surgical hair restoration, is really the premier method of treating hair loss caused by male pattern baldness. Generally, about 95% of the time, if a man is suffering thinning or balding hair he has a condition known as androgenic alopecia. This is a genetic condition that can be passed from either the mother’s or the father’s side of the family. It used to be believed that the responsible genes followed the mother’s side because an old wives tale said if your mother’s brothers are bald you will probably be bald. We now know this is not really the case and the father’s line is just as important.

The end result of male pattern baldness is full hair loss on the top portion of the head. Interestingly, the man will not usually see a loss of hair along the sides or at the back of the skull. Luckily, this leaves an area of thick hair growth that can be used as a donation area for hair follicles to me implanted using the surgical hair restoration technique. These transplanted follicles will then grow in the bald spot like natural hair for years to come.

The medical hair restoration cost is not cheap but it does work well. A man who has this procedure can usually expect to spend from a few thousand dollars up to several thousand dollars for complete restoration procedures. Some men have been know to spend upwards of $30,000 for hair implants. In particular, actors and politicians will choose this extensive therapy. Most men are only interested in filling in the bald area so their costs are much less.

This procedure is expensive but by far it is the best way to get hair growing in a thinning or balding area. Some drugs can help to limit hair loss but if you already have lost your hair, which means the follicles have stopped producing keratin the hair shaft material, you will need to replace the follicles.
