If you are interested in getting Lasik eye surgery, you may be surprised to learn that there are several variants of this surgery currently being employed. Of these variants, we believe the most promising and effective is Wave front Lasik eye surgery. Therefore, we are going to discuss a few aspects of this revolutionary surgery today.
Wave front Lasik is the newest iteration (being approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 2002) of Lasik, which consists of two steps.
The first step involves the eye surgeon using the laser to send low power laser light into the eyes. This light reflects off the retina and is captured by the laser machine’s sensors. From this return of light, the Wave front Lasik machine is able to create a three dimensional map of the patient’s eye showing where all the refractive vision aberrations are.
The second phase of this procedure involves the eye surgeon reviewing the three dimensional map and then he or she makes some computer inputs into the laser machine. At this point, the eye surgeon uses the laser to make the necessary corrections.
Because of the ability to create a three dimensional map, the patient is able to receive truly individualized vision correction. In fact, the Wavefront Lasik machine is often able to identify aberrations that the majority of eye surgeons would overlook.
Of course, because of the advanced technology and the increase in the amount of time spent with the eye surgeon, Wave front Lasik will be a little more expensive that traditional Lasik. Normally, this difference will usually average out to around two hundred dollars more for Wave front Lasik.
Now that you have seen the main advantage of Wave front Lasik, we are sure that you will be interested in finding more about it. To do so, we recommend you review the Dallas Lasik Guide.
