If you have suffered from tennis elbow before or are suffering from it now, you will no doubt have tried (or be willing to) everything under the sun to cure your tennis elbow. Many people say that strapping your arm up and not using it for weeks is a good bet, others say work through the pain with tennis elbow exercises. In reality, none of these are right although a more moderate balance of the two is a good way to overcome tennis elbow.
Tennis elbow exercises can be used to help treat tennis elbow but you have to use great caution and common sense. Picking up very light objects and slowly moving onto heavier ones is a good start. You have to remember that pain is the body’s way of warning the brain that there is going to be injury or damage so don’t work through the pain like so many suggest. It will cause even more damage than you already have and you will be cursed with tennis elbow for far longer than you would like.
Tennis elbow treatment comes in various different forms. You could try some homeopathic methods such as acupuncture and reiki. These forms try to realign the body’s chakras and speed up the healing process. There is the more traditional method of using painkillers or you could settle for somewhere in the middle and go for a lavender heat pack. This will calm your senses (lavender) while treating the aching pain (heat). Of course if you are trying all of these and nothing seems to be working then why not get yourself down to your doctor? They will be able to help you, advise you and even prescribe some gels for you to put on. If they still have concerns then they will refer you to a physiotherapist who will monitor your movement and progress closely.
