Trout Fishing Lures – Increase Your Chances of Landing the Monster

Trout fishing is usually done in mountain springs, where the water is clear and swift. Not always, but trout are most often found in the deeper parts of the streams. There are many types of trout fishing lures, each with their own action and design. The three that will be discussed in this article are: trout flies, trout spinners, and trout jigs.

Trout Flies

Trout flies are most commonly used when fishing for trout. Flies can only be used for fly fishing, thus the name. Trout flies come in many sizes and shapes which include many basic insect shapes such as: flies, bees, spiders, moths, etc. Flies are probably the most customizable bait in existence. Many outdoor and fishing stores even include an area where customers can customize or even create their own trout lures. When using flies to fish for trout, it’s always important to remember what insects are hatching during the particular time you are planning to fish in. That way you can match the lure you use to what insects are in the area, or in other words, match the hatch.

Trout Spinners

Spinner baits, or spinners, are also commonly used in spring-fed streams. Spinner baits are composed of a jig-like body with gold or silver colored blades on them. These blades spin when they are reeled in, thus the name spinner bait. The blades not only cause vibrations, which fish can feel by using their lateral line sense, but they also reflect the sunlight in the area. The reflected sunlight will cause flashing in the water, which resembles darting prey fish.

Trout Jigs

Trout jigs are most useful in deeper pools of water, such as ones created by beaver dams. Jigs are made of, usually, painted lead heads. They may also have a soft -plastic body with a trailer, or a fuzzy body with a feather trailer. Www.outdooradventuresguide.com recommends using a jig that has a similar body color to the local minnows in the stream where you are fishing.
